Fall 2009 Lanvin Collection. I drew from this fabulous collection by Alber Elbaz to create a classic urban look reminiscent of the 40s. I love his simple silhouettes that focus on feminine power. The designer knows how to re-interpret classics with such an ease. Two key items from his collection: the sheath skirt and the narrow black leather belt. I made a headband from black feathers. I’m wearing a simple black top with coordinating silk bow along with black patent bag and pumps. Here’s Katherine Hepburn waiting for her train…

Rag & Bone is the quintessential to every woman’s wardrobe; modern pieces that are wearable with a subtle edge and masculine- feminine feel to them.
I have been building up a Rag & Bone corner in my closet and every piece has a classic aspect to it that will carry over each season, a flawless fit, great quality of materials and attention to detail.
Their 2009 Spring collection was impeccable. I loved the strong British music scene influence (the accessories and above the ankle pants) mixed with a hint of timeless elegance.

Lagerfeld’s Fall 2009 “Belle Brummell” collection, which brought back the georgette blouse and the slim fitting skirt suit, was nothing less than inspiring. The collection drew from Coco Chanel’s original aesthetic of simple elegance, luxury and sophistication. Heavy tweeds, frothy silks, ruffles and bows in simple black and white work in unison to create a look that never goes out of style. I translated this inspiration into an outfit I can take to the street. As Coco said herself, “Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
